Protecting your privacy is very important to me. I'm committed to maintaining the security of all personal information provided to me by visitors to this website. This Privacy Policy details how I collect, use and manage this personal information.

Providing personal information

At times I may ask you to voluntarily supply personal information, such as your name, email address and preferred means of communication, for purposes such as subscribing to my newsletter or requesting a quote for illustration work.

Other than for the reasons as stated above, no attempt is made to identify users or their browsing activities except: in the event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect logs; or where I believe it is required to collect and produce relevant electronic documentation to fulfil its obligations to third parties, including statutory organisations under local law.

Security and data retention

I take all reasonable security measures to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, destruction, misuse, modification or disclosure. When you email me, your email address is automatically stored in my email address book. I only use this email address to reply to your initial query and any subsequent correspondence back and forth. I will never add your email address to a mailing list or third party without your permission. All my email accounts are password protected.

I have copies of contact directories collated and sold by the AOI for the purposes of marketing. These directories are supplied as Excel spreadsheets and PDFs which are stored on a password-protected computer. For ease of use, I've also added these records into a password-protected, searchable and updateable database. I will never add any of these details to my newsletter mailing list without express permission to do so. I will, however, occasionally send out postcards and follow up emails, under the basis of legitimate interest. If at any time I am requested to cease sending marketing materials to these contacts I will remove those details from my database.

If you sign up to my newsletter, any newsletters you receive include a link allowing you to unsubscribe should you wish. You can also re-enter your details in the subscribe form on the website at any time to be given access to your subscription preferences, so you can view and edit your details, or unsubscribe from the list. When you unsubscribe your details are automatically deleted.

Access to personal data and right to rectification

You can gain access to the personal information I hold about you by sending a request to Enable JavaScript to view protected content.. As I wish to ensure the personal information I hold about you is complete, accurate and up to date, you have the right to send a request for rectification.

Use of Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your computer by websites you visit. The only cookies currently used by Simon Whittaker Illustration/House of Deadleg are those pertaining to the use of Google Analytics. These cookies collect information about how visitors find and use this website, for example, which page on the internet you were on before you came to this site, and which pages you looked at. They don't collect any information that identifies a visitor. The data collected is used to help me understand which bits of the site people use most (and least) and to make informed decisions regarding design, usability and content. Without this kind of information, I'd probably just end up posting endless illustrations of Columbo.

If you don't want your visits to this site to be tracked you can change your browser's preferences to prevent cookies being set. Google also supplies tools to prevent Google Analytics from setting cookies, which can be found here. But don't say I didn't warn you the next time you visit and it's wall-to-wall Columbo.

You can find out more information about cookies at http://www.allaboutcookies.org/ and more information about Google's privacy policy at http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/.

“Simon delivered strong graphics for us as part of a new website project. He listened closely to our brief, acted upon all of our feedback, and produced some great visuals. We really enjoyed working with Simon and look forward to further projects.”

Charlotte Di Placido, Avtel

“We asked Simon to create a portrait as the winning prize for our Extreme Readers competition – which saw children all over the North Yorkshire Coast reading in weird and wonderful places. Simon kept us up-to-date throughout the process and created a beautiful drawing… the winning family absolutely loved it.”

Hannah Riley, National Literacy Trust

“Simon is really professional and always listens to the customers requirements. His imagination and flair shine through in his work and he inspires all who see his work. He is also great at being able to think creatively around a brief and come up with a variety of solutions. Thoroughly recommended.”
